What We Believe

As American Baptists who are evangelically-minded, we believe:

• The Bible is the divinely inspired record of God’s actions in history, and that it serves as our

authority for faith and practice 

• Jesus is fully God, fully human, and is the only one true Lord and Savior

• Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and we believe in His

vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood

• Christ was bodily raised from the dead, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will

personally return in power and glory

• Salvation is available to anyone who repents of his sins and is regenerated by the power of

the Holy Spirit, who enables us to live a Godly life  

• Individuals become Christians as they confess their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and

receive forgiveness of sins through His death and resurrection

• Christians have an eternal relationship with God, and are  given strength and help in living their daily lives through the transforming power and presence of the Holy Spirit

In summary, we believe:

• In the bodily resurrection of all who trust Jesus as their Savior

• In the spiritual unity of all believers who place their faith in Jesus as Lord 

• In the practice of baptizing adult believers by immersion upon the profession of their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
