  Fellowship @ First Baptist

The Coach of Fellowship’s general responsibilities include coordinating ministries that promote and strengthen the fellowship of believers. These responsibilities include budgetary support and tactical planning.

At First Baptist Church many opportunities for fellowship exist. Every Sunday the Service Station Café is open before church during the Sunday School hour and after the service ends. Coffee, tea, soft drinks, and light snacks are available in the Fellowship Hall. Luncheons also occur after some Sunday services depending upon the church calendar. Other church-wide meals, such as the annual Thanksgiving dinner, offer further fellowship opportunities.

Small groups and meetings promote the fellowship ministry within First Baptist Church. Junior Baptist Youth Group (Jr. BYG) and Senior Baptist Youth Group (Sr. BYG) are geared toward meeting the needs of our younger members. Jr. BYG consists of junior high school members, and Sr. BYG is made up of high school-aged students. Both ministries engage its members in a variety of age-appropriate bible study, community/mission service, and fellowship activities. A Young Adults Group, appropriate for post high school graduate, college-aged, and newly married adults in addition to a Women’s Group are also available.

The fellowship ministry also provides visitation to members or prospective members. Members who are elderly, shut-in, hospitalized, or unable to attend church functions may choose to receive visitors from First Baptist Church if they so wish.

The fellowship ministry also provides meals to members who are coping with a short-term personal crisis, such as an illness, recent birth of a child, or death of a family member.

If you have any questions about receiving services from any of the aforementioned fellowship ministries or are interested in volunteering please contact Joe Sanders, Coach of Fellowship, by e-mail at: fellowship@fbcwlfd.org.

Bountiful Brunch! Come join your church family for a Brunch Fundraiser on October 12, 2008. The proceeds of this lovely event will defray costs of the Annual Fall All-Church Retreat. Come and enjoy each other’s company and some good food! The event will take place following our regular worship service, and the cost is $6 for adults, $4 for students, and children under 4 eat free. There is a family maximum cost of $20. Donations are always appreciated.

Can and Bottle Drive! The Retreat Committee is holding a Can and Bottle Drive now through October 16. There is a box in Fellowship Hall to drop in your can and bottle donations. We will be using the monies from the bottle returns to provide camperships for members to attend the Fall Retreat. This is a great way to help support those who would not be able to go otherwise. Members of the Retreat Committee will be at Stop & Shop in Wallingford as well as Walmart in Wallingford from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 16 for donations to be dropped off. Please see Shannon Copas for details.
