May 15: FBC Scholarship Applications Due

Applications for the 2013-2014 college scholarships are now available in the Church Library.  Please return your application to Susanne Jordan or Sarah Sanford by May 15.  Scholarships will be presented at our annual Hour of Power Celebration on Sunday, June 9, 2013. 

May 18: Women's Book Discussion Group

Women’s Book Discussion Group:  Next gathering is Saturday, May 18 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the home of Cindy Holland-Toftness, 1 Laura Lane, Wallingford, 203-265-7594.  The book is “Dandelion Summer” by Lisa Windgate.  All women of the church and their friends are welcome.  Light refreshments will be served.  Come and enjoy the discussion, fellowship, and fun as women share about this book.  Contacts:  Debbie Gravell or Cindy Holland-Toftness.

 

May 5: Premier of the Amaury Telemaco Story

All are invited to be part of the premier of  "From Batey to Baseball: The Amaury Telemaco Story" - to be shown on Sunday, May 5, 3 pm, at Elim Park, Cheshire, Conn. This event is partially sponsored by FBC's Dominican Republic Mission Team.

 

The 20-minute documentary tells the amazing story of nine-year major league pitcher Amaury Telemaco, who grew up in the poverty of Batey Magdalena near La Romana, DR, and went on to pitch for the Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, and Arizona Diamondbacks.

May 5-11: Fulfilling Smiles Rice and Beans Challenge

Come be part of the Fulfilling Smiles first annual Rice and Beans Challenge, set for May 5 – 11, 2013.  Anyone who feels motivated and passionate will change their normal eating habits for a week and donate the savings from their grocery bill to support Fulfilling Smile's goal of feeding more than 500 families this summer.

All are invited for Zumba every Monday evening, 7 pm, at First Baptist Church. Invite your friends - all welcome!
